could have done better. could do better next time. that’s not my all. i could go back over it. or give it more on the next one. but the sad and lonely truth is that it’s better than anyone expects and better than most people are willing to give and in the end the praise comes rolling like wind across the prarie and it’s at least as annoying and chaotic and noisy. and pretending like you like it only reminds you how much better it could all be but you’re lazy and dull and doing really well at it and you know when you do the same for everyone else when it’s their turn and you even know they too are holding back for one reason or another and heck, maybe they are just as lazy as you and you could lay flat out in that field together and skip to my lou and make the whole mess out to be half as good as it should be.
